Friday 22nd January
Good Morning All.
Today we have scheduled afternoon meetings from Catterick and Chepstow over the jumps, with an All Weather flat meeting from Lingfield.
We also have an All Weather flat meeting this evening from Wolverhampton.
Unfortunately the jumps meeting from Chepstow has been abandoned.
With the meeting at Chepstow abandoned, we have unfortunately lost the inside information service bet intended for today.
For those involved, we do still have an inside information service bet lined up for Saturday.
Fingers crossed we get more luck with the weather.
Back to the mainline.
We have 2 bets on the mainline today.
Both our mainline bets today go on the All Weather at Lingfield.
Our 1st bet today goes in the 3.10 race.
This is a class 6 handicap run over 1 Mile 2 Furlongs.
The horse we will be backing here is number 2 NEW WORLD ORDER.
This horse is now trained by Roger Curtis and will be ridden today by Ian Mongan.
The horse has recently changed stables and his having his 1st run for this yard today.
These types of low grade handicaps on the All Weather are always competitive races, where chances could be given to many if you delve deep enough.
This race appears no different.
The 1st thing that jumps out about this race, is that there doesn't appear to be much early pace.
Not too many of these are horses that like to go from the front or race prominently.
Vinces has gone from the front in the past, but is by no means a confirmed front runner.
Siena Star has also gone from the front and raced prominently previously, but again, would by no means be a confirmed front runner.
The 1 Mile 2 Furlong start at Lingfield sees a bend come quite quickly.
That being the case, a low draw would be advantageous for any horse wanting to go from the front.
Siena Star and Vinces are drawn out wide in stalls 9 and 10 respectively.
As mentioned, neither are confirmed front runners, so it's highly unlikely they will go from the front from those wide stalls.
The one most likely to go on from the front is New World Order.
Our selection is a horse that usually goes from the front or races prominently.
He is drawn in stall 1.
With regards to running styles, clearly we can never second guess connections, and the horse is having his 1st run for a new stable today.
However, the horse has shown all his best form when going from the front.
He also has the perfect draw to go from the front over this trip.
Ian Mongan is usually a good front running jockey, so his booking would indicate that a front running ride is likely from stall 1 here today.
If the horse does get out infront from his good draw, he could just take some pegging back.
As a general rule, it is usually quite difficult to make all here at Lingfield.
However, the majority of races are strongly run with plenty of early pace, which 9 times out of 10 will set things up for the hold up performers and fast finishers.
That just might not be the case here.
There aren't too many of these that usually go from the front, so it could just be that New World Order can get out infront from a good draw and dominate.
If things do pan out that way, then the horse has plenty going for him here today.
The horse looks reasonably well handicapped, and could find more improvement following his change of stable.
Conditions will cause no problems
Good draw.
The horse is back from a 2 month break, which also looks a positive.
Returning from breaks of between 30 and 100 days, the horse has produced form figures of 3221 from 5 runs.
Clearly the horse can go well after being freshened up.
The horse is much better on the All Weather than the Turf, with 9 Win or Placed efforts from 14 starts.
The yard had a winner at Kempton just the other day, which was owned by the same owner as New World Order, and was also having his 1st run for this yard.
Might just get his own way out infront.
Clearly the horse has plenty in his favour in the context of this race.
As mentioned, we can never totally second guess connections, with regards to running tactics.
Making all at Lingfield clearly isn't the easiest thing to do.
However, in a race that doesn't appear to have too much early pace, it's worth chancing that New World Order can get out infront and dominate from his ideal draw.
We can get 11/1 best odds guaranteed with William Hill this morning.
We will take that and back New World Order each way.
Our 2nd bet today goes in the following race at Lingfield, the 3.45.
This is a class 6 handicap, run over 1 Mile.
This race has a similar look to the previous one, in that it looks completely devoid of early pace.
The horse we will be backing here is number 8 VERY WELL RED.
This horse looks the only confirmed front runner in the field.
As with our previous selection, this horse also looks to be well drawn in stall 1.
Very Well Red looks to have plenty going for her, in what looks an open contest.
Conditions fine.
In good form recently.
Yard going well.
Jockey has a decent record for this stable.
Good draw.
Might just get the race run to suit.
As mentioned with our previous selection, making all at Lingfield isn't the easiest thing to do.
However, there again doesn't look to be any real early pace on here at all, which might just enable Very Well Red to get her own way out infront.
If she can, then she too might just take some pegging back.
This is an open looking contest, but Very Well Red has plenty in her favour.
At the prices available, it is worth chancing that she can dictate from the front.
We can get 4/1 best odds guaranteed with Stan James with this morning.
We will take that and back Very Well Red to WIN.
Those are our mainline bets for today.
